We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Senior Production Manager

Location: Ibadan, Oyo
Employment Type: Full-time

Purpose of the Job

  • To ensure a timely production and packaging of animal protein/meat products required by the business in the right quantities and quality at optimum cost in a safe and environmentally friendly way.

Key Accountabilities
Safety:

  • Ensure full PPE compliance among associates
  • Ensure injury and accident free workplace
  • Report and investigate all incident and accident
  • Ensure good housekeeping practices
  • Ensure solid and liquid wastes are managed effectively tprevent environmental pollution. Promote wastes segregation at production facilities and educate team members on waste management.
  • Ensure workplace is kept clean and tidy always.
  • Function as an emergency controller in the event of environmental or safety emergency in the production facility as laid down in the emergency procedure

Weekly Production:

  • Participate in weekly production planning and implement to meet sales and distribution forecasts for products.
  • Receive sales forecast and break forecast down for production purposes.
  • Make and communicate production plans.
  • Initiate provision of necessary production raw materials.
  • Monitor implementation of plan and review in line with developments.
  • Take decisions for unforeseen circumstances /occurrences

Maintenance:

  • Ensure production assets are properly maintained, reduce breakdowns and downtime.
  • Evaluate performance of assets, establish trends and variances in performance
  • Discuss observations with Facilities Manager
  • Ensure maintenance is carried out according the maintenance structure.
  • Product Quality
  • Ensure product quality is maintained in order to ensure consistency and meet the expectation of consumers in a competitive market.
  • Identify aspects of production standards where improvements are possible and develop modifications with concerned parties
  • Ensure routine quality controls are carried out by production personnel.
  • Ensure that production operations are audited and findings feedback production processes.

Strategic Function:

  • Ensure Sales and Distribution demands are met in the short, medium and long term, avoid stock out and loss of market share.
  • Attend Production / Sales / Distribution meetings to evaluate trends and feedback production.
  • Monitor operations regularly to check impediments.
  • Keep production losses at minimum levels.
  • Optimize production resources without compromising quality standards.

Housekeeping:

  • Ensures good housekeeping to maintain product quality
  • Ensure process cleaning of all equipment and work area.
  • Ensure products in process are wholesome and all access to losses and damages due to infection are checked.

Performance Management:

  • Generate and communicate operational and performance reports to management for decision taking.
  • Ensure performance figures are collated and prosecuted in the appropriate format.
  • Ensure reports are up to date and relevant.
  • Explain reports at routine meetings.
  • Address shortcomings at all levels when necessary.

Subordinate Development:

  • Ensure that departmental organization has the continuous availability of sufficient motivated and well trained personnel.
  • Recommend and follow up a management development plan for subordinates.
  • Evaluate and control manpower requirements
  • Assess the performance and potential of employees
  • Maintain and develop internal communication
  • Ensure the training needs of employees are met.
  • Discipline and motivate as appropriate.

Recruitment & Selection Criteria
Level of Education:

  • University Degree (B.Sc)

Field of Education:

  • Biological / Chemical Sciences

Experience:

  • 8 Years in Food/Animal Protein Production and Quality Control
